(lecture)\" href=\"http:\/\/mariekewinkler.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/29\/the-literary-scholar-as-literary-critic-lecture\/\"> IRUN Graduate Conference<\/a> (Peter Pasmany Katholic University). It contains a wide variety of lectures held by PhD\u2019s in Social Sciences, Psychology and the Humanities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">In my lecture entitled \u2018The Literary Scholar as Literary Critic\u2019 I took the opportunity to present my latest case study that deals with the infamous <em>Huizinga-lezing<\/em>\u00a0of the Dutch scholar and critic Karel van het Reve \u2018<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dbnl.org\/tekst\/reve003lite02_01\/reve003lite02_01_0001.php\" target=\"_blank\">Literatuurwetenschap: het raadsel der onleesbaarheid<\/a>\u2019<\/strong> (<em>Literary Studies: the Riddle of Unreadability<\/em>) (1978). It meant a frontal attack on the works of contemporary Dutch literary scholars and the way Literary Studies was practiced at that moment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">What arguments does Van het Reve use to legitimate the profession of the literary scholar? What are the intertextual scientific traditions he places himself in? What normative statements does he make in respect to the scholarly enterprise of Literary Studies?
